Steven Douglas Hofwolt


October 25, 1954 - October 31, 2009





Steven Douglas Hofwolt was born October 25, 1954, at Sioux Falls, SD, to Lloyd and Alva (Moore) Hofwolt. He grew up and attended school at Salem, SD, and graduated from Salem High School in 1972. He attended South Dakota State University in Brookings for three years and was employed by Wulff’s Trucking in Salem. On June 16, 1979, he married Cindy Winkelman in Brookings. They were residents of Salem for five years, then moved to Mitchell and had been residents since 1984. He was employed at Trail King Industries for fifteen years and was currently working for the Blase Dairy Farm at Ethan. He enjoyed camping, reading and animals.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, one son, Aaron Hofwolt of Sioux Falls and his fiancé Ashley Tjaden of Mitchell, four brothers: Jim Hofwolt and wife Shiela of Norfolk, England; Alan Hofwolt of Longmont, CO; Stan Hofwolt and wife Joann of Mitchell, SD; Brad Hofwolt and wife Joni of Amelia, OH; and one sister, Mary Lemon and husband Barry of Amelia, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sorry to hear of Steve's untimely death. It was great to see his brothers and sister at the visitation. Our families were only about one mile apart when we were all kids. Steve came from a great family and my brothers and sisters will always the good old 50's. 60's and 70's. It was a kinder gentler era and I am proud to be called a friend of the family. Cam Lind
