Obituary:

Vivian Hofer, 96, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, with her family at her side. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgewater. Burial will be in the Bridgewater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8PM Tuesday evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel in Emery.
She was born May 23, 1911 in Marion, SD to John and Esther (Kneebs) Borman. She grew up and attended school in Bridgewater. On August 10, 1929 she married Albert D. Hofer. They resided in Freeman until moving to Bridgewater in 1938. She was a devoted homemaker and a long time member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Vivian had a passion for her china and ceramic paintings, which won her many ribbons and awards across the country. She is well known for her love of gardening and tender touch with flowers, especially her roses. Her greatest joys were the countless holidays, games and tea parties that she was able to spend with her family and grandkids. Rock hunting, playing cards, bingo and traveling throughout the countryside were just a few of Vivian’s other enjoyments.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Buckthorpe and husband Tom of Little Rock, AK; her son, Jack Hofer and wife Jeanne of New Hope, MN; a daughter-in-law, Maria Hofer of Huron; a sister, Lucille Siegfreid of Sioux City, IA; nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, son, Norman R. Hofer, granddaughter, Norma Hofer and sister, Harriett Gross.
