Idamae Unzicker was born May 29, 1929 in Mitchell, SD to George and Dorothy (Furchner) Gere.  She grew up attending school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1947.  On August 10, 1953 she married Wayne Unzicker at Holy Family Catholic Church.  They resided in Sioux City and Omaha before making their home in Mitchell.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Oscar Howe Art Center, the Mitchell Historical Society and the Mitchell Jaycettes. She had special interests in the Arts of Mitchell, including Cardiac Capers and was Lady of the Feast for the Madrigal. She was an avid golfer.

She is survived by her three children: Jayne Unzicker of Lennox, SD, Eric Unzicker of Sioux Falls, SD and Kurt Unzicker of Minneapolis, MN; one brother, Richard Gere of Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wayne on July 30, 1998.

Gertie is in Minneapolis taking radiation treatments for her cancer. She wanted to be able to attend your mothers funeral . You are in our prayers and know that Lady was waiting for IdaMae. Give us a call if you need something or even if you don't. So sorry for your loss.

I will greatly miss her and her visits at the salon on her Thursday Nail Appointments....
