Emma Alice Rose was born February 1, 1926, at Clayton, SD, to Ernest and Mary (Werning) Guericke. She grew up and attended country school at Clayton. On June 25, 1947, she married Edmund Rose, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Clayton, and lived in the Clayton and Bridgewater area. In 1967, they moved west of Alexandria and later moved into Alexandria. Since 2000, she had been a resident of Wesley Acres in Mitchell. She had been a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Alexandria and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She was a member of the Extension Club, Shine Program, Quilt Guild and volunteered for Meals On Wheels. She enjoyed quilting and won many quilting awards.
She is survived by three children: Milton Rose and wife, Christine of Pinon Hills, CA, Ron Rose and wife, Jolene of Alexandria, Karen Brown and husband, Michael of Sioux City, IA; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: Martin Guericke and wife, Ladeen of Las Vegas, NV, Donald Guericke and wife, Charlotte of Emery, Harold Guericke and wife, Sharon of Mitchell, Laverne Guericke and wife, Gloria of Pierre, Evelyn Walters of Plymouth, MN, and Margaret Bartel and husband, John of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, one brother, Ernest and her parents.
