Ruby Louella Pommer was born March 14, 1923 at Volga, SD to Theodore and Minnie (Reffling) Hellekson. She graduated from Volga High School and attended Nettleton Business College. She was employed by John Morrell Inc. in Sioux Falls for several years. On June 5, 1949 she married Morris Pommer in Sioux Falls. In 1953 they moved to a farm near Farmer, SD. In the fall of 2003 they moved to Wesley Acres in Mitchell and then due to failing health they moved to Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls in the fall of 2004. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Aid, the Fulton-Farmer and Epiphany American Legion Auxiliary and was a McCook County Book Mobile board member for a number of years.
Ruby loved to dance, bake and sew.
She is survived by her husband, Morris of Sioux Falls, two sons: Gary Pommer and wife, Pam of Rapid City, John Pommer and wife, Melissa of Alexandria; two daughters: Linda Heinzmann and husband, Dick and Deb Brock and husband, Doug of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Nicholas Brock and Ashley Pommer and three step-grandchildren, Jordan, Nicole and Kylie.
