Sylvia Iona Bies


August 2, 1927 - July 1, 2009





Sylvia Iona Bies was born August 2, 1927, at Emery, SD, to Sander and Jennie (Osterloo) Janssen. She grew up and attended school at Emery. On July 22, 1948, she married Donald Bies at Salem. They lived in Salem, Kandiyohi, MN for three years, Aberdeen and then moved to White Lake, where she had been a resident for forty-eight years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons: Don J. Bies and wife, Rhonda of White Lake and Tom Bies and wife, Michelle of Sanford, NC; three daughters: Barb Falk and husband, Larry of White Lake, Linda Thiry and husband, Jim of White Lake, Connie DeBoer and husband, Duane of Oacoma; one brother, John Janssen and wife, Fern of Salem, OR; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, May 10, 2008, two sisters, Dora Schillinger and Imogene Dunn, two brothers, Dick Janssen and Hans Janssen, and one granddaughter, Karen Falk.

so sorry to hear about Aunt Sylvia. I miss the old days when we got together for summer gatherings. we will be keeping all of you in our prayers.
