Irene Dorothy Hohn was born May 27, 1921 at Mount Vernon, SD, to Herman and Mary (Stampe) Sigmund. She grew up and attended school in the Mount Vernon area and graduated from Hopper Consolidated School in 1940. On February 8, 1943, she married Norman Hohn at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. They lived at Hillside and later moved east of Letcher. She had resided three miles south of Letcher since 1957. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by three children: Larry Hohn and wife Maribeth of Mitchell; Jerry Hohn of Letcher; Janice Buckley of Rapid City; two grandchildren, Travis Hohn and wife Jennifer of Mitchell; Justin Hoek and wife Grace of Mitchell, four great grandchildren: Mason Hohn; Jazzmyn Hoek; Allison Edwards; Cinnamon Edwards; one brother, Raymond Sigmund and wife Frances of Mount Vernon, one sister, Beverly Stemper of San Diego, two sisters in law, June Hohn of Mitchell and Adeline Sprecher of Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 1976, her parents, an infant son Wayne, one brother, Leonard Sigmund, one sister Evelyn Hohn, an infant grandson, Steven Hohn.
