Kevin James Shields was born March 14, 1962, at Belle Fourche, SD, to Joseph and Agnes (Leonard) Shields. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1980, then graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering. He was an engineer in nuclear power plants in South Haven, MI, Petosky, MI and the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant in Monticello, MN. He was an active member and volunteer at St. Henry Catholic Church in Monticello. He was very active volunteering and fundraising for the Camp Daggit children’s camp in Michigan and coordinated several art fairs in Michigan.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Joe and Aggie Shields of Mitchell, SD; three brothers: Steve Shields and wife, Connie of Minneapolis, MN, Pat Shields and wife, Sabra of Sioux Falls, SD, Tom Shields and wife, Denise of Sioux Falls, SD and one sister, Kate Shields Stenzinger and her husband, Rob of Minneapolis, MN.  Kevin was a fantastic uncle to his nephews , Keegan, Riley, Trey and Tyson, Jack, Carter and niece Peyton.

 

 In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established.

Kevin was a great person and friend. We had many good times at ISU and since. I'll miss him very much. My thoughts are prayers are with you all. I'm very sorry I couldn't attend today.

Kevin was a great person to work with and will be very much be missed at the Monticello plant.
