Robert Eugene Dever was born January 11, 1922, at Jackson, MN, to William and Maude (Ibach) Dever. He attended school at Austin, MN, and graduated from Austin High School in 1939. He began his employment with George A. Hormel & Co, May 8, 1939 in Austin. On April 6, 1942, he married Mary Hadbavney, at Pine Island, MN. He was transferred to the Hormel plant in Mitchell in 1950, then to Fremont, NE in 1979. He retired from Hormel in 1983, after forty-four years and returned to Mitchell. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus and the BPO Elks. He was on the Board of Directors and served as secretary treasurer of the Lakeview Men’s Golf Club, Board of Directors and fund drive chairman of the United Way, Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of the City Beautification Committee, Chairman of the Indian Village Board and Chairman of the Western Market Hog Show.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Pamela Brink and husband, Phillip of St. Louis Park, MN; two grandchildren, Christopher Brink and wife, Lisa and Sara Brink; and three great grandchildren: Liam, Tayler and Gabby Brink. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Jack, Gary and Harold, and three sisters: Teresa Karlan, Joann Jacobson and Beverly Kinky.
