Russell Louis DeLancey was born November 20, 1933 in Mitchell, SD to Russell D. and Harriet (Kearney) DeLancey. He grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He served in the United States Air Force from October, 1951 until August, 1955. On April 18, 1960 he married Marilyn Ann Thome. They resided in St. Louis, Hot Springs, Pierre and Yankton before returning to Mitchell. He owned and operated Dean’s Fire Extinguisher Service for many years.
He is survived by his two sons: Michael DeLancey of Mount Vernon, SD, Douglas DeLancey and wife, Toni of Arlington, VA; six grandchildren: Haley and Shawn DeLancey and Jay, Leah, Gina and Claire DeLancey; one half brother, Dick and five half sisters: Pat, Kay, Donna, Samantha and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marilyn in November 2005.
