Leila Jean Dominicak was born July 25, 1930 at Mitchell, SD to Forrest W. and Leila (Dickson) Butts. She attended the Garfield country school, near Loomis for eight years and then received her formal education in Mitchell. On October 30, 1951, she married Harry Dominicak at the Methodist Church in Alexandria, SD. She was a Brownie Girl Scout Leader and 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Horsemen’s Sports Inc. for over twenty-five years where she served on the Board of Directors and was Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and for over twenty-five years and operated a pet boarding facility. She was an apartment complex assistant manager for several years.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Dominicak of Sioux City, IA and one grandson, Lee Furman of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by twelve aunts and uncles.
A memorial fund has been established to the Mitchell Area Safe House, 1809 North Wisconsin, Mitchell, SD, 57301 and the Siouxland Humane Society, 1015 Tri-View Avenue, Sioux City, IA51103.
