Janis Kinyon

Janis Kinyon, 76, Mitchell, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at her home under hospice care.


Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday at the Wesleyan Church.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday 6-8:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.


She was born September 26, 1931 at Aberdeen, SD to Loren Levernge and Rosetta (Martin) Hildebrandt.  She received her B.A. in music from Houghton Wesleyan College, Houghton, NY in 1955. On November 25, 1955 she married Duane Strand. She was an accomplished violinist and teacher for many years. She married Edward Angell May 25, 1979.  Together they were in pastoral positions in Virginia and Maryland for 13 years.  She was head of resources for the Calvert Investment Group in Rockville, MD for several years.  She married Daniel Kinyon May 16, 1997.  She was a member of the Wesleyan Church, the Rapid City Symphony Orchestra and had a passion for missions and volunteer work.


She is survived by five sons: Quentin (Sherrie) Strand of Gillette, WY;  Mark (Patty) Strand of Mitchell;  Jonathan (Jill) Strand of Minneapolis, MN;  Timothy (Sharee) Strand of Marion, IN;  Jonathan (Shari) Angell of Dillberg, PA;  three daughters: Susan Walia of Falls Church, VA;  Becky (Rick) Chapman of Rapid City; Debby (Wes) Bjelland of Rapid City;  her mother Rosetta Hildebrandt of Mitchell;  one brother, Les (Mervela) Hildebrandt of Mitchell; one sister, Ruth (Pierce) Brane of Kansas City, MO;  nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her father, her husbands, Edward Angell and Daniel Kinyon, brother, Earl and sister, Linda Lloyd.
