Paul Davis Hauert, of Stickney, was born to George and Cly (Parry) Hauert in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Stickney High School and served in the Army band, stationed in Ft. Riley, KS, during the Korean War. He married Lillian Isakson on June 15, 1956. To them, 1 son and 3 daughters were born; Carl (Colleen) Hauert, Linda (Gary) Dwyer, Nancy (Steven) Jacobsen, and Janet (Chad) Moser. His wife, Lillian, passed away on September 17, 1984. Paul married Hazel Vandenberg on November 7, 1985. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Stephanie (Allen) Bolin, Nick (Bekah) Hauert, Abby (Tim) Haiar, Luke (Jessica) Hauert, Victoria and Vance Dwyer, Andrew and Daniel Jacobsen, and Rachel and Joshua Moser. His great-grandchildren are Lillian and Connor Bolin, Ady, Asher, Nolan, and Max Hauert, Ada, Henry, and Elsie Haiar, and Jude Hauert. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lillian. Paul loved the land he owned in SD and enjoyed farming/ranching with his family. He had a great love for horses he trained and used for his cattle operation. Another love was for music. He conducted the church choir for over 65 years, directed many patriotic pageants, and instilled this love in his children. Paul's first love, however, was for the Lord. Many people don't know this, but he personally smuggled Bibles into China and delivered them throughout Russia . He taught Sunday school for most of his life and helped spread the good news of God's salvation through Jesus Christ though prayerful support of foreign missions. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gideon's International, Jews for Jesus, or Far East Broadcasting Company. A memorial service will be held at the Stickney United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 10th at 2:00 pm. Fellowship to follow.
