Robert Bowen

April 15, 1949 - January 25, 2018

Mr. Robert “Bob” George Bowen Sr. of Mitchell, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 25th, 2018. He was born in Parkston, SD, on April, 15, 1949. He blessed this world with 5 children and 4 continue their own life journey as one Angel flew well in advance of his death.

When we think of our father so much comes to mind. In the beginning, a father who struggled to find his way and care for more kids than the money in his pocket. We recall many times our parents struggling to acquire the basics and my dad would leave and come home with money or food… not a lot but just enough. We often wondered how you could leave the house with nothing and come home with something…as adults we now know. For all those who may have felt transgressed by our father please know his motivation was not spite but feeding his children. The lessons in life he learned were difficult and he did the best he could with his simple survival skills. He too was once a child that cried, laughed and played but his future journey was not meant to be as whimsical. So simply implied in “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”, help each generation to be a little bit better. The next generation he supported became an Angel, Fleet Manager, Physician, Master Sergeant in the USAF and another loving Classic Car Enthusiast (like his Dad). Through him we exist to make the next generation a little bit better. Donations can be given to a child by accepting them for who they are with an open and kind heart and you too shall be remembered forever.

We will celebrate his life in a very simple manner given his simple life. Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust in a beautiful prairie cemetery in Tripp, SD. May the prairie winds provide a peaceful lullaby.

Psalms 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds

Sweet Dreams Dad,

Preston, Bridget, Bobby and Jamie (the Bowen’s)

Our Deepest Sympathy wishes to the family. He had many endearing qualities. He loved his children and he was very proud of them. He had highs and lows in his life but I think deep down, he always strived to do the right thing. He's in Heaven now with people he loved-I bet Charlotte is happy to see him. R.I.P. Bobby.

He was a special person. We all have flaws but he also had something special. Even if he pulled the wool over your eyes a bit you couldn't help but like him and forgive him. We always knew that life circumstance and providing for his children was the driving force. Putting your children first, there is not a more admirable quality to have. I can't imagine how proud he must be of all of you. He will be missed and kindly remembered by many.
