James Seth Wethor was born November 28, 1928 at the farm home of his parents, Charles J. and Helen (Hoffman) Wethor. He grew up attending St. Martin’s Catholic School and worked with his parents on the farm. In March 1951 he joined the US Army, where he served in Korea with the 48th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. Following the service he took over the family farm. On June 1, 1953 he married Jeanette Haiar at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Farmer. Together they farmed until retiring in 1985 and moved into Emery. After retirement he looked forward to going out to the farm to help his son, Mike, run the tractors and harvest equipment. He was a life-long member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister, usher and council member. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette; two daughters: Barb Lienemann and husband, Steve of Morris, MN, Jane Simons and husband, Duane of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, Mike Wethor and wife, Tami of Emery, SD; one brother, Jerry Wethor of Luverne, MN; one sister, Lenora Krier of Emery; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wethor of Mitchell; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cecelia Loes, Bernadette Hillard, and three brothers, Francis, Robert and Charles.
