Obituary

Darlene Fessler, 81, of Mitchell, died Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell.  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell.  Burial will be at the Serviceman’s Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM Scripture Service.

Darlene Anne Fessler was born December 18, 1935 to Joseph and Anna (Konechne) Kott in Mitchell.  She grew up near Academy, SD, and attended school and graduated from Kimball High School.  After graduation Darlene attended nursing school at Presentation System School of Nursing at Aberdeen, SD.  She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mitchell for many years.  Darlene enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, reading, collecting angels and playing the piano.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Red Hat Ladies, and the Lunch Bunch.

She is survived by her seven children: Perry (Dixie) Fessler, Fulton SD, David (Diane) Fessler, Fulton SD, Rhonda Schleich, Alexandria SD, Gary (Vicki) Fessler, Mitchell SD, Ron Fessler, Mitchell SD, Lisa (Jim) Friedt, Aberdeen SD, Cheryl (Jim Puetz) Fessler, Brandon SD; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Lorraine Knutson, St Peter, MN and sister-in-law, Linda (Don) Kuder, Mitchell SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Morris, parents, one infant sister, Annette Kott and brother in law, Marlin Knutson.
