Lloyd Klein, 92, Mitchell, formerly of Stickney, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 26 at the First Reformed Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery at Stickney. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Lloyd Delmar Klein was born March 16, 1925 in Aurora County to Albert and Katherine (Noteboom) Klein. He attended schools in Aurora County. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific Area during World War II and attended Naval schools at Providence, RI and Santa Barbara, CA. He Married Mary Blum November 14, 1947. He worked in Illinois for 3 years after marriage. They then moved to SD. Lloyd attended Agricultural and Business School and farmed near Stickney most of his life.
Lloyd was a member of First Reformed Church in Mitchell. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the Elks and Moose Organizations. He served on various boards in Aurora County. He retired and moved to Mitchell, SD in March 1987.
He is survived by his 3 daughters: Sheryl (Tom) Miller of Sioux Falls, Debra (Harold) Isakson of Grand Junction, CO, Kristi (Alan) Zwach of Peachtree City, GA; nine grandchildren: Ryan (Marna) Miller, Jared (Amy) Miller, Michael (Jennifer) Miller, Chelsey (Eric) Dockter, Chad (Misty) Isakson, Aaron (Maria) Isakson, Amber (Jordan) Alegria, Kaylee and Michael Zwach, 16 great grandchildren, sister Evelyn Livingston of Mitchell, sister-in-law Erma Klein of Platte, brother Verle (Nancy) Klein of Raleigh, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, one brother Robert Klein, one brother-in-law Ron Livingston, and one nephew, Larry Livingston.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
