Obituary

Matthew Tietz, 30, Mitchell, SD died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 26 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Tuesday with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Matthew Wayne Tietz was born January 23, 1987 in Sioux Falls, SD to Wayne R. and Barbara Lynn (Schrank) Tietz. He grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 2005. Matt was employed by Musick Properties and Associates and Lifequest for several years and was presently working for Boyd’s Gunstock Industries in Mitchell. Matt enjoyed participating in the Mitchell Special Olympics and was an avid sports fan of Nascar Racing, football, baseball, softball and bowling.

He is survived by his father, Wayne Tietz of Mitchell, his fiancé, Tasha Ottmar of Sioux Falls, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his beloved dog, Oscar. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, and grandparents.

Memorials are preferred to be made to Lifequest, 804 N. Mentzer St., Mitchell, SD.

Deepest dympathies to Wayne and all of Mathew's friends family and fiancee. I knew Matt forca long time as he was a church member and volunteet at the Salvstion Army

From young Matt causing chaos in elementary school, to being granted the opportunity to catch up at our 10 year high school reunion;; even down to passing your smiling face from time to time in the halls at LQ. You were a very special soul Matt;; I know you knew that... You will be greatly missed! Thoughts and prayers to your Dad and all who loved you! Thinking of you all during this trying time!

Matt always had a smile on his face, and if you didn't, you did after visiting with Matt. He was very dedicated to his job and talked about all the sports he participated in. It was an honor to work with and know Matt. He truly will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Matt.

I want to give thanks to matt tietz for everything he has done for me and fun times that we did guys gathering like my friend luke nangel and everyone one of my favorite memories is talking to matt tietz and i can see him bowling like ever we go to area tournament and state bowling tournament and all the sports he particitpated...
