Obituary

Mary Jane Kiner, 98, of Mitchell, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2017 at First United Pentecostal Church in Mitchell with a burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ethan. Visitation will be an hour prior to the funeral at the church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Mary Jane Kiner was born May 18, 1919 to Fred and Ida (Sandmark) Morris in Artesian, SD. She grew up on a farm near Artesian in her early years until moving to Ethan where she attended country school and graduated from Ethan High School. In June of 1942, she married Delbert Hansen of Ethan where they farmed the “Hansen Bros” Farm with Eskel “Delm” Hansen. Two daughters were raised on the farm, Beverly and Judy. After Delbert’s passing, Jane moved to Mitchell, where she met Glen Kiner and the couple married February 16, 1991.

Jane loved working outside, helping the “men” in the fields and working in her garden. She loved to travel, which included visiting her daughters in Washington and Illinois, bus tours in the US and Germany with her friend, family vacation to Alaska and the Yukon, Nashville for Fan Fair, and enjoyed Corn Palace Shows. She loved attending First United Pentecostal Church and going out to eat.

She is survived by her daughter Judy (John) Parsons; grandchildren Roxane, Rhonda, and Ryan Parsons, Victor and Raquel Moultray, Tracy and Wendi Huntley, and Todd Ellingson; great-grandchildren Justin and Nathan Moultray; and great-great-grandchildren Mason and Grant Moultray. Special thanks to Pam and Becky Kiner for all their love and support.

Jane is preceded in death by both husbands, parents, daughter Beverly Ellingson, brothers Fred Jr. and Wayne Morris, and sisters Virginia Anderson and Marjorie Barth.

I enjoyed having Jane in my care at Firesteel. She had a great sense of humor and I will miss her smile as will others.
