Obituary

Lucille Storm, 93, of Parkston, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston.  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 28 at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Dimock.  Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00PM.  Arrangements are with the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Lucille Marie Storm was born in Davison County to John and Helena (Frahm) Jurgensen on January 6, 1924. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1941. In 1942, she received her teaching certificate from Notre Dame Jr. College.  On September 17, 1944, she married Leonard Storm at St. John Lutheran Church at Hillside.

 She was very involved in homemaking, gardening and raising her children. She was a 4-H Leader, and an active Extension Club member. She was active in the women's church organization and lead youth activities, including starting Jr. Lutherans with Margaret Luebke. 

Lucille went back to teaching after receiving her degree from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1974. She taught at Ethan and at the New Elm and Old Elm colonies. She retired in 1993. 

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Richard (Bonnie) Storm, Beverly (Doug) Mueller, Carol (Jim) Faulstich, Myron Storm, Kevin Storm, Monica (Todd) Fiegen, Laurie (Robert) Young, Tim (Vickie) Storm, sister in law Doris Gerlach, brother in law and sisters-in-law Lorraine (Gerhard) Storm and Maryann Jurgensen, several nieces and nephews, thirty one grandchildren, and forty seven great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, son Leon, and brother Orville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Saint John’s Lutheran Church.

Your Mom and Dad both had wonderful lives. They took our class of 1968 on Skip Day to Lake Okoboji. I'm not sure who had more fun--us or your parents! They lived their lives to the fullest and left many lasting memories. My sympathy to your family.
