Mark Radel, 62, Mitchell, died June 3, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Mark Allen Radel was born November 3, 1954 in Parkston, SD to Laverne and Bernice (Mogck) Radel. He grew up on the family farm south east of Parkston. He attended country school and then Parkston School where he graduated High School in 1973. He then attended Mitchell Area Tech for electrical construction and maintenance and graduated in 1975. He then did electrical work and helped on the family farm. He married Paula Mechtenberg June 5, 1976 in Parkston. The couple then lived by Parkston. They moved to a farm southeast of Parkston near his parents and Mark started farming. Together they were blessed with three children, Sara, Chad, and Amanda. They farmed until about 1989. They then moved to Mitchell where Mark worked for APC management and then Radke Construction. He then went to work for Krohmer Plumbing where he worked as a plumber for over 22 years until retiring. Mark loved his family, his wife, his children and their spouses and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching movies and talking with family and friends.
Grateful for sharing his life he is loved and remembered by his wife Paula Radel, Mitchell; children Sara (Dean) Parker Sioux Falls, Chad (Danielle) Radel Mitchell, and Amanda (John) Millan, Mitchell; five grandchildren, Carter, Eva, Sophia, Ella and Porter; brother-Gary (Joyce) Radel; in laws, Dan (Pam) Mechtenberg, Mike (Patty) Mechtenberg, Linda (Steve) Williams, Becky (Dan) Bauer, Mary (Bob) Smits and Leslie Mechtenberg; step-mother-in-law Marilyn Mechtenberg; aunt Sr Carol Mechtenberg; seventeen nieces and nephews; five step brothers and step sisters in law; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Bernice Radel; father and mother-in-law Gerry and Joyce Mechtenberg; brothers-in-law Scott Mechtenberg and Jay Hansen; two cousins; a nephew; aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
