Michael Norman Kane was born in Mitchell, SD to Leonard and Elva (Dyer) Kane on July 29, 1937. He lived on a farm near Letcher, SD. He attended country school and Notre Dame Academy in Mitchell.
He married Darlene Olson on June 2, 1955 in Rock Rapids, IA, and they had five boys. They lived in Mitchell for the first few years. Mike worked at Randall’s as a meat cutter. They then moved to Des Moines, IA and Mike worked in sales until 1979 when he formed Kane Manufacturing. He sold his products across the US and progressed into 40 different countries. He was awarded Iowa Exporter of the Year and Small Business Exporter of the Year in 1991.
He married Donna Goodman on May 4, 1985 in Nashville, GA. They lived in Des Moines, Labelle, Florida, and Homerville, GA.
Mike was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Club, and Sons of the Legion. He loved to fish and hunt pheasants in South Dakota, and travel all over the world.
Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Kane, Des Moines; sons: Kraig (Teri) Kane, Altoona, IA, Klay (Shashi) Kane, Ankeny, IA, Mick (Chris) Kane, Ankeny, IA, and Todd (Edie) Kane, Phoenix, AZ; step-sons: Chris (Caroline) Goodman, Tifton, GA, John Goodman, Georgia, and Russel (Carra) Goodman, Homerville, GA; sisters: Connie (Dick) Lidman, Riverside, CA and Karen (Garry) Krantz, Mitchell, SD; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Elaine Kane, and son, Kim Kane.
