Obituary

Clyde Wilbur Lehman was born December 30, 1925 in Mitchell, SD to Floyd and Irene (Willhoite) Lehman.  He attended Betts Country School and graduated from Mitchell High School.  Clyde was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War.  On June 20, 1953 he married the love of his life, Alice Alumbaugh.  After having three daughters, the family spent many summers in the Black Hills.  Clyde had a deep passion for farming, and farmed west of Mitchell until he retired and they moved to Mitchell.  After retirement, Clyde enjoyed spending time at Cubby’s, drinking coffee and visiting with friends and neighbors.  He and Alice went on many bus trips touring various locations in North America.  He also worked part-time mowing at Dakota Wesleyan University.  Clyde was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and had served on the church, Farm Bureau and Weed Boards.  Clyde was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins.

Clyde will be remembered for his kind smile, quiet and gentle demeanor, and his love for telling jokes.  Living on to share his memory are his wife of 63 years, Alice; three daughters: Dianne Lehman of Mitchell, Joanne (Louie) Schoenfelder of Ethan, and Jeannette Knigge of Mitchell; one sister-in- law, Helen Dalton; one brother-in-law,  Donnie (Cheryl) Alumbaugh; four grandchildren: Ashley (Jared) Digmann, Joe (Katie) Schoenfelder, Jason (Mhera) Knigge, and Alicia (Cody) Gramkow; eight great grandchildren: Shaylin, Jayden, Atticus, Hadley, Clyde, Alody, Luna, and Aylah; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, brothers-in-law:  Kenneth Alumbaugh and Floyd Dalton, and sisters-in-law:  Ollie Alumbaugh and Lois Alumbaugh.
