Margaret Kathleen Jensen was born July 3, 1915 at Bison, SD to Jay and Julia (Thoreson) Jensen. She grew up and attended school at Bison and graduated from Bison High School in 1934. In 1937, she graduated from the Academy of Beauty Culture in Minneapolis. She returned to Bison and owned and operated The Modern Beauty Shop. On May 9, 1942, she married Frank Schryer at Lemmon, SD. They moved to Miller, SD in 1943 then to Doland, SD, where they owned and operated the International Harvester farm implement business. They moved to Wessington Springs, SD in 1954, where they owned and operated the Schryer Hardware Store. Margaret worked at the family business and was an aide at the Weskota Manor. In 1972, the family moved to Waubay, SD where Margaret worked at the US Post Office. After retirement they lived in Spearfish, SD and Highmore, SD. In 1995 Margaret moved to Aberdeen and was a resident of the Bethesda, a retirement, assisted living and nursing home. Since August of 2008 she had been a resident of the Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell.
Margaret was known for her infectious giggle, her warm gentle spirit and her “Famous” cinnamon rolls. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and those in need. She delighted in her grandchildren, often cheering them on from the sidelines. Margaret especially loved babies and received great joy in the birth of her great-grandchildren. Her nurturing presence will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons: Curtis Schryer and wife, Jeannie of Pearl City, HI, Richard Schryer and wife, Sandra of Easton, PA; two daughters: Kathie Tupper of Mitchell, SD; Bebe Janish and husband, Paul of Arlington, TX; one sister, Lyla Busse of Highmore, SD; eight grandchildren: Justin Tupper and wife, Brooke, Ryan Tupper and wife, Kelly, Seth Tupper and wife, Shelly, Aaron Schryer, Lindsey (Schryer) Hansen and husband, Eric, Steven Janish and wife, Stefany, Scott Janish and wife, Tanya and Marissa Janish; nine great-grandchildren: Emily, Maggie, Taylor and Cody Tupper, Max, Mya and McCoy Tupper, Kaylie Tupper and Laila Janish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1993, her parents, one sister, Ruth Jacobson and one brother, Morris Jensen.
