Lyle (Heine) Eugene Fuerst

Lyle Eugene Fuerst was born on August 31, 1930 at Delmont, SD, to Helmuth and Edith (Mills) Fuerst. Lyle attended school in Mitchell. On March 16, 1949 Lyle married Theresa Saukerson in Mitchell. They lived in Carson, CO for one year while Lyle was stationed there during the Korean War. They returned back to Mitchell and he worked at Toy Corey in the shoe repair business where he worked as a kid. He later bought the business in 1959 and operated it for thirty years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, managed the Legion in Mitchell for seventeen years and Commander for Post 18. He belonged to the 40 & 8, a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; one son, Gary of Deadwood; four daughters: Monica Evers of Mitchell, Pam Munsen of Mitchell, Tammy Fuerst (Laren Feistner) of Letcher, Vickie Blakney (Neil Hague), Deadwood; one sister, Irene Rearkick of Huron; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lenard and two sisters, Delores Sheffield and Lola Potts.

Heine used to stop at my Hardware store in Bridgewater back in the 70's and pick up shoes for our customers to repair back at the shop in Mitchell. Talked to him several times at the Midnight Star Casino in Deadwood. What a personality. RIP Heine

My very deepest sympathy to Lyle's family !! He was such a great neighbor and friend and I enjoyed visiting with him so much !! I am sure going to miss him !! He was always so friendly and kind to me and my family !! You are also in my thoughts and prayers !!!

I am so sorry for the passing of Lyle. No more will I hear him sing Jean Jean... He was a good uncle and will be missed. Prayers and hugs to all of the family.
