Edithe Mae Brenden was born September 15, 1936 in Sioux Falls, SD to Carl and Virginia (Kraft) Hawkins. She grew up attending schools in Sioux Falls and Harrisburg. She served in the US Marine Corps. On May 4, 1956 she married Harold “Pete” Brenden at Pipestone, MN. They resided in Sioux Falls where she worked in the meat department at Sunshine Foods. They moved to Norfolk, NE where they were in the mobile home business until moving to Mitchell in 1975 and remained in the mobile home business for another twenty-five years. Edithe loved spending time with her family at the cabin in Oacoma, being in the outdoors, fishing and her dogs.
She is survived by four children: Nancy K. (Edgar) Baker, Tammie (Larry) DeJong, Rocky (Diane) Brenden, all of Mitchell and Brian “Skip” (Colleen) Brenden of Pukwana, one brother, Jacob (Mavis) Hawkins of Sioux Falls, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pete, son, Dale in infancy and brother, Kenneth.
