Viola Isabelle Johnson was born December 20, 1920 at Dimock, SD to Henry and Katherine (Weber) Puetz. She was baptized December 28, 1920. On September 14, 1937 she married Bernard Johnson. They farmed until retiring in 1972 and moved to Parkston. Viola was a longtime member of the Salem Lutheran Church where she was involved serving various activities. After the death of her husband, Bernard, Viola enjoyed traveling numerous places with her sister and brother-in-law, Marty and Jeanette DeAngelo.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Sarah (Jason) Wear of Mitchell, Kimberly Johnson (Chris Maier) of Stillwater, OK, and BJ Johnson and fiancé, Janai Braun of Mitchell, two great grandchildren: Jamison and Mattson Wear, son-in-law, Larry Fritza of Mitchell, brother-in-law, Marty DeAngelo of Cerritos, CA, special family friend, Shirley Wuertzer and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Joann Fritza, son, John, daughter-in-law, Sharon Johnson and eight siblings.
