Myrtle Viola Klock Olthoff was born on August 7, 1921 to Dick and Tillie (Weeldreyer) Klock. Myrtle grew up on the family farm north of Chancellor, where she attended country school. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, was baptized in April of 1935 by Rev. Martin DeBoer and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Chancellor.

On November 1, 1940, Myrtle was united in marriage to Elmer C. Olthoff.  For 53 years, they were dedicated to each other as they farmed and raised a family in the Emery area. Myrtle became an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Emery.  She devoted her life to serving her Lord in many positions including:  teaching Vacation Bible School and Beginner Sunday School (2’s and 3’s - 20 plus years), being involved in the Awana program for 17 years, serving as president of King’s Daughters and serving in several  positions in WMU.  In March of 2016, Myrtle became the oldest living member of the church.

In July of 1990, they moved to their new home in Emery where Elmer passed away on December 19, 1993.

On August 30, 2011, Myrtle became a resident of the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. After 95 years, 3 months and 2 days of a good life on earth, she heard her Lord and Savior calling.  She heard the nurses saying, “Myrtle, you are a strong woman!”  Then in a moment she answered the call.
