Zachary Eric Buche was born on July 22, 1997 and lived in O’Neill, NE until he moved to Mitchell, SD with his family where he attended and graduated from Mitchell Christian School while competing in cross country, basketball, and track. He also played football for Mitchell High School. He loved Boy Scouts and received the highest honor of Eagle Scout. Zach was active in his youth group and passionately served on various mission trips to Puerto Rico, Acuna, and Juarez. He completed Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and began technical training in the spring of 2016. Zachary was an Airman First Class in the Air National Guard and was looking forward to his deployment in 2017. He was highly respected by his peers and commanding officers. Zach was also a cadet in the ROTC program at SDSU and majoring in Economics. He hoped to become an Intelligence Officer, following in the footsteps of his brother Tim. He dreamed of volunteering in a ministry to serve fellow airmen. As a freshman in college he recently joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and was involved in a variety of campus ministries. In his brief time at SDSU, he had already made dozens of friends just as he did everywhere he went. Zach loved working on cars with his brother Geoff and spending time at the beach, boating, skiing, watching movies, going out for coffee and Chinese food with his sisters Tiff, Lins, and Court. Zach and Courtney were best friends. His brothers and sisters-in-law thought the world of him. He was the most incredible uncle, brother, and son, and a friend to hundreds. He was loved by everyone who met him and had the best, funniest stories, if you could listen fast enough to catch them all. Zach was his dad’s little buddy and his mom’s right hand man, never complaining when asked to complete endless tasks. Zach leaves a hole that can never be filled. He is treasured and loved, walking the streets of gold next to Jesus, checking out his pecs.
He is survived by his loving parents, Greg and Deb Buche of Mitchell, SD and five older siblings: Tiffany & Neal Lange of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lindsey & Craig Alcock of St Paul, MN, Geoffrey & MaryAnn Buche of Lake Andes, SD, Timothy & Emily Buche of Colorado Springs, CO, and Courtney & Dustin Bergmeier of Omaha, NE, as well as his adoring nieces and nephews, Amy, Landon, Alyssa, Gavin, Lydia, Devin, Zane, Valerie, Brody, Whitney, & Claire; grandparents, Paul & Dorothy Patton and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob & Dorothy Buche.
