Obituary

Joyce Louise Fallis-Loudner, daughter of Stanley and Amy (Doughtery) Fallis was born March 25, 1932 in Fort Thompson, SD.  She grew up in the Big Bend District of the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation.  She attended school in Fort Thompson, SD graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Stephan, SD. and St Lukes Presentation Nursing College in Aberdeen, SD.

Joyce married Donald E. Loudner on May 16, 1953 in Pierre, SD and they made their home in Mitchell, SD their entire married life.  They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary May 16th of this year.  Together they raised four children and four grandchildren.

Joyce was active in various organizations.  Faithfully attended mass at Holy Family Catholic Church until recent church renovation and health made it impossible for her to attend.  She worked with her husband Donald to help veterans and was elected to leadership positions thru out the years with various organizations American Legion Auxiliary,  8 and 40, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.  She was a Brownie and Girls Scout Troop Leader, Cub and Boy Scout Den Mother for her children as they grew up.  She would drive great distances to attend her grandchildren’s activities (school, sports, music recitals and graduations) and was always seen there sitting in the audience at school events smiling proudly and encouraging them to do their best..

Joyce enjoyed sewing, BINGO, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling especially to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Donald Loudner, Sr., Mitchell, SD; her four children two daughters Donita Loudner, Fort Thompson, SD; Rose Loudner, Madison, SD; two sons Michael Loudner, Mitchell, SD and Donald (Kathy) Loudner II, Blair, Nebraska; Grandkids Tory (Jessie) Loudner, Larry Cortez, Melissa Cortez, Sheena (Wes) Loudner-Swan plus ten other grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, five brothers and six sisters Donavon (Dub) Fallis, Alvin (Peewee) Fallis Sr. of Fort Thompson, SD, Darlene Fallis-Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, Roxanne Fallis, Jill Fallis,  Marilyn Fallis, Jerrilyn Fallis, and Jeff Fallis of Fort Thompson, SD; Leroy Cook of Mission, SD; and Don Pruess of Rapid City, SD.
