Lowell D. Terveen was born November 24, 1925 on the family farm near Emery to Albert and Grace (Roskens) Terveen. He attended country school and graduated from Emery High School in 1943. He enlisted in the US Army in March 1945, serving during WWII and was honorably discharged in December 1946. On December 20, 1946 he married Averyl Janssen. They farmed their entire lives at the family farm. Lowell was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Treasurer. He enjoyed going to auctions, playing softball, bowling and attending gospel quartet concerts.
He is survived by two daughters: Linda (Steve) Kranzler and Muriel (Jack) Kolbeck of Sioux Falls, two sons: Bruce (Rebecca) Terveen of Emery and Morris (Susan) Terveen of Spearfish, two brothers: Allen (Opal) Terveen of Emery and Harvey Terveen of Turlock, CA, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and his in-laws: Harley and Marjorie Fluth, Bob and JoAnn Weber, LeRoy Ibis all of Emery and Luella Browen of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Averyl in 2002.
