Donna Jean Nicholson was born August 22, 1935 in Mitchell to Glen and Mildred (Sayles) Rayher. She was baptized at the Farwell United Methodist Church which is now at the Dakota Discovery Museum. She received her education in Plano and enjoyed her monthly get together with her classmates. On September 2, 1950 she married Keith Nicholson in Huron. Donna worked for 26 years at the Fabric Warehouse and for 13 years at the South Dakota Visitors Information Center, where her favorite thing to do was “to tell people where to go”. She loved her travels to Europe, Ireland, Germany, Mexico and many states. She enjoyed sewing clothing for family and loved attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her greatest joy was having the entire family together. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Eunice Circle, Red Hat Ladies, she enjoyed volunteering for the Hospitality House and the Love Feast and was past governor of the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by three sons: Kevin (Jeanne) Nicholson of Rapid City, Brett Nicholson of Redfield, Bartt (Jan) Nicholson of Sioux Falls, four daughters: Brenda McPeek of Mitchell, Mary (Steve) Johnson of Sioux Falls, Jean Nicholson of Sioux Falls, Kris (Jason) Burmeister of Minneapolis, MN, three sons-in-law: Steve Gordon, Steve Troglia, Mark Schroeder, 8 grandsons: Andrew Nicholson, Tanner Johnson, Kristopher Troglia, Kyle Nicholson, Luke Schroeder, Casey Johnson, Jake Nicholson, Rayce Nicholson; 8 granddaughters: Naomi Long, Shauna Chapman, Jessie Nebelsick, Sarah Powell, Kirby Troglia, Lesley Gordon, Kaylla Nicholson, Kari Nicholson and 11 great-grandchildren: Addison, Avreigh, Tucker, Zach, Elliot, Troy, Myles, Chet, Ryan, Alexa and Lily.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, three daughters: Correne Gordon, Kathy Troglia, Denise Schroeder, a brother, Bill Rayher and brother-in-law, Jerry Nicholson.
