Dr. Mark Arnold Reynen was born December 13, 1967 in Warren, MN to Don and Evelyn (McFarlane) Reynen while they lived in Stephen, MN. When Mark, the youngest of four boys, was eleven months old, the family moved to Mitchell, SD and a sister was added to the family.
Mark attended Mitchell Public Schools, graduating in 1986. Mark grew up enjoying and participating in the various school and community sports. It was a joy for him to have participated in two State Basketball Championships as a Mitchell Kernel and was part of the record setting team that won 40 straight games.
Mark was baptized and later confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church. He was active in youth and church activities while growing up. Mark graduated from University of South Dakota in 1991. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
On June 2, 1990, he married his high school sweetheart, Gina Eppel. Mark received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Des Moines University and completed his Family Practice Residency in Sioux Falls. In 1999, Mark joined the Mitchell Clinic where he practiced family medicine.
Lovingly and eagerly welcomed into their family were Kathryn (Katie) Jean in 1994, Emily Noel in 1997, Abbie Evelyn in 1999, and Maggie Elizabeth and Maxwell (Max) Mark in 2002.
Mark loved his wife and children and was an avid fan and supporter of his children’s activities. His favorite place to be was at his family’s cabin on Lake Mitchell. He enjoyed a simple life-running, boating, camping, watching movies with the family (“It’s a Wonderful Life” was a favorite), looking at pick-up trucks with Max, holidays (especially Christmas), his extended family and many friends. His sense of humor, quiet wisdom and a quick wit endeared him to many.
Mark was a faithful member of the Northridge Baptist Church where he was an overseer and a Bible study leader. He was a mentor and encouraged others in their faith. He was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and he witnessed to his faith in his life, his medical practice, and service to others. Mark also was a strong supporter of the Mitchell Christian School.
