Obituary

Kenneth Edward Adams, a counselor, a writer, an actor, a storyteller, a comedian, and keeper of the best five acres of land in South Dakota passed away on May 31, 2016, at the age of 75 at his home in Hartford, SD.

Kenneth was born September 19, 1940 to Ray Edward and Anna Nancy   (Wranek) Adams, in rural Minnehaha County, South Dakota near the town of Garretson.  Kenneth joined the United State Air Force in 1957 and was proud to serve at Misawa Air Force Base in Japan.  He received is BA degree from Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell SD, and is MA degree from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion SD.

Ken had a passion for serving others. No matter how big or small the task, from helping a stray cat to changing lives through counseling juvenal offenders and troubled youth, his heart reached out to all in need. His disability took away the businesses he started, Peer Group Dynamics and the Mast Center, in the 1980s, but while he worked, he enjoyed great success touring as an expert lecturer in Group Dynamics. While his condition was devastating and painful, he still remained the life of any party, always ready with a story or a joke to tell.

Family meant the world to Ken and we can take comfort in knowing he has joined his parents, sister, Esther Underwood, sister, Alta Gering and brother, Arthur in heaven, and that he is now watching over his family on earth.  He is survived by his wife, Judith (Kay); his daughter, Jennifer Raye, Austin TX; three brothers and four sisters:  Clarence, Newcastle WY, Betty Christensen, Mitchell SD, Nancy (John) Kirchmeier, Mitchell SD, David (Dorothy), Everett WA, Joanne (Stanley) Hofwalt, Mitchell SD, Gary (Linda), Marathon WI and Diana Wick, Mitchell SD; thirty-seven nieces and nephews, fifty-seven great nieces and nephews, eighteen great-great nieces and nephews.
