Lillian Greenway was born July 5, 1925 on a farm north of Platte to Hans and Lela (Ellsworth) Olson. She attended several country schools, then Torrey Lakes Center and the 2 years of high school. She then attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids, IA and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1943. She moved to Mitchell where she worked several places including running the elevator in the Medical Arts building.
Lillian married Giles Greenway November 24, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church Parsonage in Mitchell. They farmed northwest of Mitchell for 60 years. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, family gatherings, gardening and canning.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Clint (Jill) Greenway, Mitchell, Amy (Cory) Goembel Sioux Falls, Briar Greenway, San Diego, CA; three great grandchildren; sisters: Viola Winters and Joann Vogel both of Mitchell; two daughters-in-law: Mary Lou Greenway and Dawn Greenway of Mitchell; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Giles; sons, Ron and Robert; daughter-in-law, Charlene Greenway; and sisters: Gertrude Twombley, Emily Wittenhagen and Esther Johnson.
