Gerhart Harold Burmeister was born December 14, 1934 in Davison County to John and Hilda (Larsch) Burmeister. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Hillside and later became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stickney. He grew up south of Mount Vernon and attended country school. Gerhart farmed in Davison County until 1982 and then worked as a farmhand for Harley Titze. In 1988 he began working at the Van Vuuren chicken farm until retiring in 2008. In 1996 he moved to Stickney where he enjoyed bowling, throwing darts and playing cards. In February 2015 he moved to Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell.
Grateful for having shared his life is his sister, Sandy (Lennis) Titze of Plankinton; one niece, Tami (Mark) Titze, two nephews: Jason (Patty) Titze, Terry (Sherri) Schrank and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Delores Schrank and brother, Larry Burmeister and brother-in-law, Clifford Schrank.
