Lorraine Charlotte Wise was born February 16, 1913, to Lawrence and Lillian (Work) Wise in Gibbon, NE. She grew up near the Dismal River and Callaway and Grand Island, NE. She graduated from Grand Island High School in 1928. Following high school, she worked for Ulry-Talbert Wholesale Grocers and Red Rooster Auto Parts in Grand Island, NE. At 19 she attended Shield of Faith Bible School in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, TX. A year later she became the business manager and accountant of Southwestern Assembly of God University. She was an accountant for many other businesses including Montgomery Wards, Chicago, IL, Glad Tidings Bible Institute, San Francisco, CA, Rev. William F. Freeman, Evangelist, Branson, MO, Christ For The Nations Institute, Dallas, TX, Wise Welding Inc., Santa Ana, CA, and Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International, Santa Ana and Los Angeles, CA. While with FGBFI she traveled the world.
After retiring at the age of 62, she returned to Santa Ana, CA to care for her parents. After her parents’ death she moved to San Diego, CA and lived in a retirement community at the San Diego First Assembly of God campus. She moved to Mitchell in 2000 to complete the estate of her oldest brother, Harold. At 95, she wrote a book God Is Real which tells of her life of service in accounting and serving her Lord. Lorraine attended Mitchell Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sally Wise of Mitchell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Harold (Irma), George (Wilhelmina), Norman (Mary), Lynn (Geraldine) and Lorry Wise and her parents.
