John William Plagman was born August 7, 1926, at Alexandria, SD, to John and Lillian (Diedrick) Plagman. He grew up and attended school at Alexandria. On April 17, 1946, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Tacoma, WA, where he was a Medical Technician. He was honorably discharged April 29,1947. On January 14, 1949, he married LaVera Armfield at Luverne, MN. He was employed at Hormels for thirty years and also worked at Culhane’s Dairy, County Fair, Sunshine Foods and K-Mart. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge and in 2006, received the Moose Lodge Pilgrim Degree.
He is survived by his wife, LaVera; one daughter, Karen Grave of Sioux Falls, SD; one son-in-law, John Johnson of Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren: Frank Grave of Tea, SD, Tim Grave of Sioux Falls, SD, Kimberly Johnson and BJ Johnson of Mitchell, SD; two great-grandchildren: Allison and Bradley Grave, both of Tea, SD; one nephew, Terry Hoschied and one niece, Pat Ryberg of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Johnson, his parents, his son-in-law, Dennis Grave and three sisters: Leona Widdes, Hazel Hoschied and Pearl Kurtenbach.
