Mary Lou Andrews passed away March 7, 2016 at Firesteel Healthcare Center, surrounded by members of her family.
A life-long Mitchell resident, she was born in 1928 to Edward Forrest “Butch” McComish and Lillie Amanda Moorman. She graduated from Mitchell High School, and was married in 1948 at the Congregational Church to Robert Lee Andrews, who she met through her love of motorcycles and riding.
The couple and their growing family vacationed in the Black Hills every year during the Sturgis rally, a tradition continued by several family members. Mary Lou was a devoted mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Troop Leader and school volunteer. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and taking daily rides “around the lake”.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Andrews Courtier of California; two sons, David and Dan Andrews of Mitchell; five granddaughters, Kim Janzing, Miranda Burk, Sarah Jones, Abbie Olson and Catherine Courtier, five great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Ed McComish, and a son, Robert Lee Jr.
A private family memorial service is planned with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
