Obituary

John (Jack) Arlen Buschelman was born on July 14, 1936 to Alfred and Wanda (Sawatzke) Buschelman on the family farm in Crofton, NE.  He died on February 20, 2016, at the age of 79.  Growing up on the family farm gave him a strong work ethic.  In 1955, he graduated from Crofton High School.

He entered the United States Army and served in Korea.  Typical of his service to others, he volunteered at a local orphanage when off-duty.

After his return from Korea, he met the love of his life on a blind date.  He married Jean Marie Mueller on January 19, 1962.  They were married 54 years.  Jack and Jean had two children and two grandchildren to complete his family.

In 1979, he and two partners created the well-known business, Business Products Inc. and ran it successfully for 30 years.

Jack was fun-loving, humorous, and witty.  Always active, his many interests included fishing, hunting, model trains, puzzles, photography and flying his remote-control airplane.  He rarely left his house without his camera and remote-control plane.  He was in daily contact with his sisters and brothers through internet communication.  He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  He was an enthusiastic community volunteer and was a past president of the Mitchell Exchange Club.

With a spirit of adventure, he and Jean took memorable trips to Europe, traveling through the United States, and driving the AlCan Highway.  Taking family, including his grandchildren on an Alaskan Cruise was a recent highlight.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two children:  Denese (Chuck) Keener of Fairfield, OH, and Todd Buschelman of Lakeside, CA; two grandchildren: Lucas and Marie Keener; a brother, Dick (Norma) Buschelman, Omaha NE and three sisters:  Alyce (Hank) VanKirk, Winona, MN, Lou McCabe, Columbus, TX and Linda (Paul) Gerber, Plano, TX.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

It was a shock to see Jack's name in the paper today! I have very fond memories of our working years together at Brower's (later BPI). He helped make it a fun working environment and I know his customers had great respect and admiration for him as well. I wish I could have seen him one more time. My sincere sympathies to Jean and to your family.

Jack was always the life of the party and will be missed. It was so nice when he put the booklet together for our 35th class reunion. May God bless the whole with the strength to deal with the loss...

Jack was a great brother-in-law. We had many fireside chats about everything from kids and grandkids to the best investments to make. He also taught me most everything I know about turkey hunting and sheephead and the back roads of Santee.

Jack is my cousin via his wife Jean. Always a very fun, exuberant, happy person. I remember the many times he stopped to visit with my mother when her health was in decline. He will be missed from our family gatherings. Blessings to all in this wonderful family.
