Sylvia Ann Kunz was born on December 31, 1942 near Delmont SD to Arnold and Altha Semmler. She attended country school and graduated from Delmont High School in 1960. Following High School, she worked at Stelzer Rexall Drug in Armour SD.
On September 11, 1961 she married Dennis Kunz at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. They moved several times prior to moving back to Armour in 1963 due to Dennis’s work with Boeing. Sylvia’s career included working at Kunz Brother’s TV and the Fabric Shop in Armour, Ravens Industry in Parkston, and retired in 2008 from the fabric & craft department at Walmart in Mitchell.
Sylvia was known for her extraordinary sewing skills, from suits to quilts, baby clothes to wedding gowns. She spent her life serving and sewing for family, friends and community. She loved her Lord and the Redeemer Lutheran Church she attended. She was passionate about donating her time to charities and taught her family to do the same. In her leisure, she enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, crafting and gardening.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, one son, Kyle, Armour, two daughters, Krystal Grohn, Woodbury MN and Kelly Pirtle, Osage Beach MO, two sons in law, Steven Grohn and Jeff Pirtle, four grandchildren, Riley and Cara Grohn, Jena Pirtle, Dallas TX, and Justin Pirtle, Greenville, TX, sister, Sandra (Ron) Ruml, Letcher SD two brothers, Clint (Sherry) Semmler and Mel (Lolly) Semmler, all of Rapid City and brother-in-law, Harold Bietz, Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Norma Bietz and Margaret Friederich, brothers in law, Wally Friederich and Kenneth Kunz, mother and father in law, Leo and Olga Kunz.
