Obituary

Terry Philip Henning was born December 3, 1944, at Elgin, Ill., to Ralph and Phyllis (Williams) Henning.  Terry grew up and graduated from high school in Huntley, Ill.  On October 23, 1965 he married Connie Millermon at Huntley Ill.  In 1981 they moved to Mitchell to help with the startup of the Syncom Plant.  After its closing he worked at Innovative Systems until retiring at the age of 68.  Terry and Connie met at the age of 7 when Connie’s family moved to the farm down the road.  They worked on the farm together and went to the same school.  Terry and Connie would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this October 23.  Terry was a man of few words and a very private person.  He loved his family and enjoyed his work.  He will be missed.

Terry is survived by his wife, Connie, Mount Vernon; one son, Phillip (Hanna) Henning, Sweden, one daughter, Vicki (Bristan) Menor, Ramona, SD; three brothers:  David, Stanley and Ralph Henning and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steven Henning.

Connie - I was sorry to hear Terry passed away. I can picture him in his football pads playing for the Huntley Redskins, he was the strong silent type even then! I am sure he was a wonderful husband and father (and, judging by some of the other comments, a good boss as well) and will be missed. Take care.

Dear Connie, I was one of Terry's classmates and teammates in Huntley (actually we lived a few stops past yours on our bus route). I had heard that Terry was ill last year and I missed the opportunity to connect with him then. My stupidest failure. I grieve his loss with you but I must say I envy your having had him for all those years. He was a great friend when we were boys together and I'm sure he was a great man. I know he will be in Heaven waiting, ahead of us all. Please let me know if I can help in any way. George Palmer (geopalm@comcast.net)
