Alvina Rosina DeWald was born January 21, 1917, at Tripp, SD, to Christian and Rosina (Link) Hahn. She grew up and attended schools at Tripp. On February 17, 1938, she married Alvin DeWald, at Tripp. They farmed in the Tripp and Alexandria area for many years until moving to Mitchell, in 1967. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital, JC Penney’s, Twilight Manor and the Mitchell Junior High School Food Service. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by four children: James DeWald and wife, Joyce of Corona, SD; Leslie DeWald and wife, Jane of Fulton, SD; Peggy Kayser and husband, James of Alexandria, SD; Linda Riggs and husband, Gene of Ethan, SD; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-two great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 2006, her parents, one sister, Clara Melhaff, a brother-in-law and one grandson.
