Bernadette Lucille Stemper was born October 7, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD to Edward and Mary (Sloan) West.  She grew up in Mitchell where she attended and graduated from Notre Dame High School.  In 1957 she married Kenneth Stemper.  She was the Deputy Clerk of Courts in Davison County for twenty-three years and Clerk of Courts in Hanson County for over ten years.

She is survived by two daughters: Kim Young and husband, Keith of Mitchell, SD; Kathy Petrik and husband, Bob of Sioux City, IA; one son: Kristopher Stemper and his fiance of Mitchell, SD; five grandchildren, three sisters: Marcey Ladd of Port St. Lucie, FL; Rita Gehring and husband, John of Pueblo, CO; Mary Haley of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers: Tom West and wife, Lily of Morrisontown, FL; Steve West of Dell Rapids, SD and a brother-in-law, Wayne Brannan of Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Julie Brannan, and four brothers, Gene, Dick, John and Mike.

You shouldn't use the past tense in this cnioectnon, Ben. The sentiment hasn't changed a bit, although they tend to rely on slower methods of killing these days. More fun watching their victims undergo prolonged suffering before dying, I suppose.How's that for a noir reality?

I am so sorry about your loved one. We were good friends in High School and Kenny and my late husband were also. I am so sorry for your loss. But more sorry that I did not stay in contact with Bernie.. Sincerely, Jackie Wray
