Henrietta "Hank" Arlene Yutrzenka was born March 19, 1929 to Henry and Minnie (Judstra) Spaans at Corsica, SD. She graduated from Corsica High School in 1947. Henrietta attended Southern State Teachers College and taught country school in the Corsica area. On June 29, 1950 she married Alfred Kane in Platte, SD. They farmed in the Platte and Mitchell area until Alfred’s death in 1975. August 14, 1978 she married Paul Strombeck in Salem, OR and they lived in the Mt. Vernon and Mitchell area. In 1990 Paul died and Henrietta continued living in Mt. Vernon and working in Mitchell. On October 23, 1993 she married Bernard Yutrzenka in Mitchell and they lived in Mt. Vernon. Following Bernard’s death in 2007, Henrietta remained in Mt. Vernon until for reasons of health she moved to Mitchell in 2010. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the James Valley Community Center.
Henrietta is survived by her step-sons, Grant (Anne) Yutrzenka of Anchorage, AK, Ben (Irma) Strombeck of Tripp, SD and Jim (Jan) Ham Lake, MN; step daughters, Jane Bruce of Tampa, FL and Donnadee (Dean) Nicholson of Storm Lake, IA; 14 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Norma) Spaans of Salem, SD; sister, Nellie Houska of Mitchell, SD; special niece and nephew Bernice & Jim Houska of Mitchell, SD and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother, Albert Spaans.
