Obituary

Vivian Alice Zeal was born June 1, 1923 in Yankton, SD to Arthur Roy and Alice (Sorenson) Brown. At a very young age she moved with her family to Mount Vernon where she attended school and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. She attended college in Brookings for two years.  On December 5, 1943 she married Wally Zeal in Monterey, CA where Wally was serving in the US Army during WWII. Billie was an avid golfer. She and Wally thoroughly enjoyed playing golf, visiting the many golf courses throughout South Dakota, visits to the Black Hills and camping. A big high lite for Billie was when she scored a hole in one at Lakeview Golf Course. Billie was known for her famous cooking and desserts. She played an important role in all of her grandchildren’s lives and was very inspirational to each and every one of them. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two children: Kevin (Heather) Zeal, Mitchell and Nancy Galland, Sturgis, six grandchildren: Stacy (Susan) Galland, Ellen Larsen, Brook Galland, Kayla Zeal, Tyann Zeal, Breckyn Zeal, two great-grandchildren: Danielle Galland, Maddisen Larsen and one great-great-grandchild, Daelynn Fenner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Wally, son-in-law, Rod Galland and brother, Kenneth.

Memorials are preferred to be made in Billie’s name to the Mitchell Animal Rescue.

Nancy, I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have fond memories of time spent at your house when we were in grade school. It was good to see her again at your daughter's wedding. It's hard to lose your mother, but the memories will keep her with you.

I was one of Billie's caretakers @ Edgewood Prairie Crossings. She was a wonderful lady, with a sense of humor that could not be beat. Rest in Jesus' loving grace Billie. I love you and will miss you deeply. Until we meet again in Heaven....REST IN PEACE
