Obituary

Ramona Jane Schneider was born March 22, 1932 at Farmer, SD to Lawrence and Florence (Mowry) Dunn.  She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1951 and from Mount Marty College in Yankton in 1953 with a degree in Elementary Education.  She taught school in McLaughlin and Pierre for several years, she was loved dearly by all of her students. After the death of her mother, Ramona helped her father in their farm home near Alexandria. On October 10, 1959 she married Leroy Schneider in St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Alexandria. Three girls were born to this union, Marita, Rose and Julie.  To make the family complete, foster-daughter, Sharron Cyphert joined them in 1963 and was loved as one of their own. Ramona was a member of the Church of The Epiphany, where she was active with the Altar Society and taught CCD. She was also a member of the Happy Mother’s Extension Club.  In 1994, Ramona and Leroy retired from the farm and moved to Mitchell and were members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leroy, her four daughters: Marita (Gary) Marx, Aberdeen, Rose (Greg ) Rott, Spring Green, WI, Julie (Joel) Hendricks, Crosby, MN and Sharron (Robert) Jensen, Vermillion, two sisters: Coletta Dunn, OSF, Milwaukee, WI, Marilyn Dunn, PBVM, Aberdeen, brother, Larry Dunn, Colorado Springs, CO, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant children and two sisters: Antonia Dunn and Marilyn Even and a sister-in-law, Lisette Dunn.
