Obituary

Jerome Krumm was born October 10, 1929 in Bismarck, ND to Michael and Barbara (Wolf) Krumm.  He grew up in Hague, ND and moved with his family to Emery in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He returned to Emery and worked with his family at the Zip Feed Mill. In 1970 he moved to Huron where he worked on a dairy farm, Metz Bakery for ten years and then the Huron Regional Medical Center until retiring.  Jerome operated his own lawn care service for many years. He was a frequent customer of the Barn Restaurant in Huron where he had his own table to meet with his friends and it was considered his “home base” for phone calls. For nine years of his life he had a special friend, Joanne Menning, who was his constant companion until her death, also Alvin Tekrony, who Jerome called his “adopted son” and shared a special friendship and holidays along and his dog Taz, who brought him great joy in his last years.

Jerome’s family gives great thanks to the friends and family at Helping Hand Assisted Living for making Jerome smile and so very happy during his last days.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Hewitt, two grandsons: Michael Steinhaus and Brian Hewitt all of Sioux Falls; three great-grandchildren, grand puppy, Trigger; three sisters: Florence (Tom) Corcoran, Pierre; Jane Hengel, Aberdeen; Dorothy (Denny) Olsen, Akron, IA; brother, Cletus (Anna) Krumm, Tuscon, AZ; sister-in-law, Vonnie Krumm, Farmer and many nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, Gerard and Herman and one sister, Regina.

Rest in Peace Dear Brother. So many fond memories of you, as I was growing up. Your journey has ended. I'm sure God has a place for all Korean War Veterans.

Sorry about your loss. I remember coming to the elevator to have feed ground (for my dad, Clarence Geppert). Everybody was always helpful and cordial.
