Donald Frank Hohbach was born May 29, 1928, at Mitchell to David and Edith (Tietz) Hohbach. He grew up and attended school at Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1946. He worked on family farms and then served in the US Air Force from 1950 until 1953. On November 23, 1952, he married Maudene Kuder in Joplin, MO. They lived in Wichita Falls, TX, and then returned to Mitchell. He was employed at the Armour Creamery, and then was employed with the South Dakota Highway Department for thirty-two years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Maudene, three children: Diana (Denis) Slepikas of Huron, Dan (Tricia) Hohbach of Mitchell, Doug (Penny) Hohbach of Letcher; three grandchildren: Jamie (Stan) Cass, Chris Hohbach, Alison (Wesley) Davis; two step grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Oakleaf, Tomena (Sawyer) Peterson, two great grandchildren, Taryn and Roy Cass, one sister, Marie (Wally) Meinke of Mitchell, and his sister-in-law, Pat Hohbach of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Evan and Lyle Hohbach, infant brother Earl and his parents.
