Janet Lee (Crawford) Ziegler was received into heaven on February 21, 2015 after many years of enduring Alzheimer’s Disease. Janet was born at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen SD on May 4, 1931. She was raised in Mobridge by her parents, George and Grace (Runner) Crawford. Janet attended both elementary and high school in Mobridge graduating in 1949.
She then attended Sioux Falls College for one year before going to Business School in Minneapolis MN. Janet worked for a law firm in Minneapolis until her marriage to Roy J. Ziegler on February 2, 1953 at the FE Warren Air Force Chapel in Cheyenne, WY. She and her husband spent the next 2 ½ years in Cheyenne while her husband served in the military. After Roy completed college, they moved to McLaughlin SD where Roy taught school until they moved to Pierre SD in 1965. In 1973 they moved to Mitchell. She continued to live in Mitchell until her death. Janet worked tireless hours volunteering for the Mitchell Community.
Janet was dedicated to the residents of Brady Memorial Home, was a member and past president of The American Legion Auxilary and also a member of Davison County Republican Women, Right to Life, the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Altar Society as well as many other organizations. She loved crocheting, needlework, rosemaling, music, her bible studies, tending her gardens and loving her grand and great-grandchildren. Her children could not have asked for a better or more loving mother. Her grandchildren were graced by her love of them and her husband is eternally grateful for their 62 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; five children: Dan (Doris) Ziegler of Spearfish SD, Bill (Barb) Ziegler of Banner WY, Lynn Lasser (Tom) of Fridley MN, Kathy Chalhoub (Tony) of Saint Peter MN and Patrick Ziegler of Mitchell; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
